"Practices Of Submission (Islam) Without Hadith".
I seek refuge in God from Satan the rejected. In the name of God, Most
Gracious, Most Merciful
Question: How can we learn to pray, or know the amount of
Zakat or how to perform Hajj without believing in Hadiths?
Let us examine whether we can execute the so called five pillars of Islam
using Quran alone or whether we need anything else to help us execute it.
The five pillars of Islam existed prior to the revelation of Quran.
The first pillar - Shahadah existed ever since the first human being sent on
earth who was also the first messenger, Adam.
[21:25] We did not send any messenger before you except with the
inspiration: "There is no God except Me; you shall worship Me alone."
The other pillars, viz. the rituals of Salat, Zakat, Fasting and Hajj were
for the first time taught to Abraham.
Abraham: Delivered All Religious Duties of Submission (Islam)
[21:73] We made them imams who guided in accordance with our
commandments, and we taught them how to work righteousness, and how to observe
the Contact Prayers (Salat) and the obligatory charity (Zakat).* To us, they
were devoted worshipers.
God then chose the system to pass these rituals to us from one generation to
the next one. If you trust in God you should know that He is perfect. He knows
that some of these rituals will be corrupted along the passing and He therefore
sent messengers, prophets and scriptures to correct these rituals. When the
Quran was revealed it corrected the parts of those duties that had been
corrupted over the years. The mentioning of other names besides the name of God,
the practice of Wudu, as was the way to perform the fasting was restored, just
to mention a few examples. As we learn from 16:64, only the duties that were/are
corrupted and disputed, were/are corrected in the Quran.
Muhammad was commanded to follow the religion of Abraham, see 16:123. The
messengers before Muhammad too followed the religion of Abraham. Obviously the
messengers before Muhammad could not follow the Hadiths and Sunna of
Muhammad.
For example:
Moses said Salat: [10:87] We inspired Moses and his
brother. "Maintain your homes in Egypt for the time being, turn your homes into
synagogues, and maintain the Contact Prayers (Salat). Give good news to the
believers."
Jesus said Salat: [19:31] "He made me blessed wherever I
go, and enjoined me to observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and the obligatory
charity (Zakat) for as long as I live.
Ismail said Salat: [19:55] He used to enjoin his family
to observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and the obligatory charity (Zakat); he
was acceptable to his Lord.
We also know that certain generations lost the Contact Prayers:
[19:59] After them, He substituted generations who lost the
Contact Prayers (Salat), and pursued their lusts. They will suffer the
consequences.
This is what happened to the Jews and the Christians.
So, the pillars of Islam have been passed on to us through generations and
are universally accepted among those who did not lose the rituals.
The third revelation given to Muhammad (sura 73), and
about 20 years before the delivery of the whole Quran, Muhammad was ordered to
perform Salat and pay Zakat. Al-Fatehah which is part of Salat was the fifth
revelation. He had nothing else to go with it except what the followers of
Abraham in his time were doing. So he knew the Salat before the whole Quran was
delivered to him. Thus the practices were already in use and practiced for
thousands of years before Muhammad. Quran later, made the needed correction in
what was corrupted and did not give all the rituals back to Muhammad, it has
already been given to Abraham.
You will find in the Quran, for example, words like Umrah, Arafat, Safa and
Marwa and sacred months described as the Quran teaches about Hajj.
None of these terms is explained in the Quran, not because the Quran is NOT
complete, but because God already taught us that all these rituals are to be
inherited and learned from previous generations and are well known to them. All
rituals should be devoted to GOD ALONE. Most of these practices are universally
accepted.
What is universally accepted could fall under 2 categories; one that is done
in the name of God, the other that is done as custom or tradition and not done
in the name of God. We look at the first category, as this is what concerns us.
Everything that is done in the name of God (as in religious requirements) cannot
be God's law under all circumstances. These should be verified with God's laws
to ensure that the universally followed practice does not contradict God's laws.
For example, the world over practices idol worship. We know that this is against
God's law.
Salat and the other rituals of Islam are not mentioned in Hadiths and Sunna
as well. So the Hadiths and Sunna are in no way going to help anybody to learn
how to observe Salat of give Zakat or observe Hajj, etc.
It is not we who refute the alleged Hadiths and Sunna of Muhammad. God is
commanding us not to follow any Hadiths other than His and His revelations. See
45:6, 77:50 and
others. We reject Hadiths because Hadiths are not God's words. As stated in our
site Hadiths and Sunna are nothing but Satanic innovations, full of lies and
fabrications attributed to Muhammad.
Hadiths of Muhammad, which are claimed as being divinely inspired, are
alleged sayings (in fact lies and fabrications) attributed to Muhammad
documented about more than 200 years after prophet Muhammad's death. They are
Hadith (narration) of men and women who never met the Prophet; in fact, the
grandparents of their grandparents too apparently never met the Prophet. It is
well known that the first book of Hadith is that of Bukhary, who was born more
than 200 years after the death of prophet Muhammad. These Hadith normally starts
by saying ABC said he heard his father, may GOD bless his soul, say that that he
heard his older brother, may GOD bless his soul, say that he was sitting with
his grandmother, may GOD bless his soul, and she told him that she was having
dinner one day with her great uncle, may GOD bless his soul, when he stated that
his maternal grandfather may GOD bless his soul, knew Imam Ahmad ibn Muhammad
al-Amawy, who mentioned that his grandparent heard from his oldest uncle that he
met the great companion of the Prophet, Omar ibn Khaled Al-Yamany, and he told
him that the Prophet, peace be upon him, said '...'.
Thus, the Hadith is
simply a narration by Bukhary's source, claiming that he or she heard something
about the Prophet across eight generations of the dead. How can such volume of
documents be trusted upon? Obeying hadith is not obeying the Prophet. Instead,
it is obedience to the men and women who narrated the Hadiths. The true
obedience of prophet Muhammad is only by obeying the Quran, which is indeed a
narration through the Prophet. Thus the Quran is the only true and proven Hadith
from prophet Muhammad. Additionally and most importantly, in the Quran GOD
assures us of its preservation (15:9) and not
that of the Hadith, etc. Please see
http://www.masjidtucson.org/submission/perspectives/hadith/index.html
for the details.
Additionally and most importantly, in the Quran GOD
assures us of its preservation (15:9) and not
that of the Hadith, Sunna, etc. Following Hadiths as a source of religious
jurisprudence would contradict the divine assertion given by God in Quran that
Quran is complete, perfect and fully detailed and should therefore be the only
source of religious laws and guidance. God says in 6:38 that He
did not leave out anything out of Quran. Please see also:
Quran: All
You Need For Salvation.
