"Milat Ibrahim, The Quranic Perspective".
Summary: History always repeats itself.
After the death of every messenger of God, the corruption finds its way to
the religoin by some well intended individuals who do not understand,
or appreciate the duty or role of a messenger of God. With a twist of
events and a twist of understanding, they produce a whole new line of
religion that contradicts the teachings of the scripture and that of
the same messenger who came to uphold it. Naturally they do not
see themselves this way, they think they are righteous and that their
intentions were good , see 18:103. No where in the Quran does
God tell us of a messenger who corrupted the message he was sent to preach.
On the contrary, God repeatedly tells us that it is the people around or
after His messengers who corrupt the message. See 6:112
We do have clear orders in the Quran to follow "Milat" Abraham (Ibrahim).
The Arabic language defines "Milat" as "the way to practice" and the order
to follow Milat" Ibrahim in the Quran is to follow the way Ibrahim practiced
his Submission (Islam). Our comments on a recent e-mail sent to
us by one of the readers about Milat Ibrahim is detailed
The e-mail comments we received appear in
<<blue.>> Followed by our answers.
<< What is 'Millat Ibraheem'? These are the verses
16:123, 2:135, 3: 95, 4:125,6:161,
'he was a monotheist and not idol worship'
..
It is thus obvious that God is giving us the definition
of the words 'millat Ibraheem' as being Monotheism (as opposed to idol
worship).>>
This is not true. If you know Arabic, you will realize right away that the
words (Hanifan Mosleman) is the description of Abraham not the Milat, as
you claim. To define the word "Milat" in Arabic, God would have said that
Milat Ibrahim, Al Hanifa. "Milat" in Arabic is a feminine word, while Ibrahim
is a masculine word. The description of "Hanifan Musliman" is for a masculine
figure (Ibrahim) not the Milat. God used the same description in other verses
where Ibrahim is only mentioned without the word Milat. See: 3:67
God deliberately does not want to say what you want to claim. As you will
see later in this reply, the "Milat" is the way to practice the religion
and not just the faith.
For Abraham to be Hanifan does not define what is a " Milat", it defines
his faith in principle, as a person. Noah was a submitter monotheist but
God did not tell Muahmmed (or any of the other prophets) to follow Noah
as he did NOT receive any rituals for his monotheistic submission. Abraham
and his children were the first and last ones to receive such rituals. Every
subsequent generation inherited what Ibrahim (Abraham) received from God.
The Arabic dictionary defines the word "Milat" as the way to practice religion
(Tariqat). You have to realize that this whole article (e-mail) is built
from the very beginning on this basic misinformation and accordingly it is
all built on a wrong concept but I will continue to reply to it any
way.
Now you may try to answer these questions for yourself to understand this
issue:
Was not Noah a monotheist and not an idol-worshiper ?
Was not Joseph a monotheist and not an idol-worshiper ?
Was not Moses a monotheist and not an idol-worshiper ?
Was not Jesus a monotheist and not an idol-worshiper ?
Why did not God tell Muhammed then to follow Milat Noah, Joseph, Moses or
Jesus ?
What is the difference between Ibrahim and Noah in the Quran ?
<< Consequently, when God commands Muhammad,
and all of us, to follow 'millat Ibrahim', God is really commanding us to
follow Monotheism and refrain from idolatry.>>
You missed the meaning of the word "Milat". If what you claim was true, then
following Noah the Monotheist would be perfect, but Noah had no rituals.
Rituals appeared only after Noah and according to QURAN ALONE, Ibrahim was
the First one to get them. And if monotheism is ALL that we need to do as
a principle, why do we need to follow anyone. why would not be the order
in the Quran to be a monotheist ?? You do not need to follow anyone to be
a monotheist. From a practical point of view it is much easier to forget
about Ibrahim and all the OLD prophets and just order the people , in the
Quran, to be a monotheist. After all , none of us got to see or know Ibrahim.
God told us to follow Milat Ibrahim, not Noah, not by accident. There is
a good reason. This reason has to be the difference between Noah and Ibrahim.
What is the difference according to the Quran ?
Right, Ibrahim received the rituals of Islam, Monotheism, submission but
Noah, although was a monotheist submitter, did not receive any rituals according
to the Quran. There is nothing for us to inherit from Noah as faith by itself
does not have any ritual to practice.
<<When Joseph declared that he follows Millat
Ibraheem he quickly added that it dictates him not to commit idol worship
nor associating anything with God:>>
The same point. Why not Noah ? Noah was known to previous scriptures and
Joseph knew that Noah was a monotheist. Joseph meant to follow the practices
given to Ibrahim while he is totally devoted to God alone avoiding any corruption
that may have entered in such practices at his time.
<<Should we accept God's definition of the word
'millat' (creed), or should we devise a looser definition for the word 'milat'
to mean all the religious rituals, rules and detailed regulations of
Islam?>>
To invent a definition and claim it to be God's definition is totally wrong.
That is what is done here. Using the wrong Arabic grammar and the
wrong understanding, you are inventing a new definition and call it God's
definition. The Arabic Dictionary (Mohit Al-Mohit for example) defines Milat
as "Tariqat", the way to practice or perform. To follow Milat Ibrahim
is to follow the way Abraham practiced his religion, not just his beliefs.
If you know that both Noah and Ibrahim were monotheists but Ibrahim has a
difference than Noah (the rituals given to Ibrahim) you will know why God
chose Ibrahim to tell us to follow his Milat. And you will know that the
definition that you invented is just your definition not God's definition.
If you understand the QURAN ALONE correctly you will know that Milat Ibrahim
involves the rituals that were given to Him. Despite these rituals he did
not get confused or corrupted and stayed a monotheist, not idol-worshiper.
God emphasized that Ibrahim is a monotheist because other people will
practice the same salat, zakat, fasting and Hajj but they will not be
monotheists, their rituals will not be to God ALONE. The contemporary
traditional Muslims are just a clear example of people who claim to practice
the rituals of Islam but they are not monotheists like Abraham or Muhammed.
That is why the emphasis in the Quran about Abraham being a monotheist in
addition to practicing these Islamic rituals.
<<The deliberate insertion of the words 'monotheist,
he was not an idol worshiper' after the words 'millat Ibraheem' in all these
verses that contain the words 'millat Ibraheem', compel us to accept that
the words 'millat Ibraheem' refer to Abraham's creed which is
Monotheism.>>
And so was the creed of Noah and all the prophets before Muhammed, but God
told Muhammed and told us to follow the Milat Ibrahim, WHY ? The deliberate
insertion of the words 'monotheist, he was not an idol worshiper' after the
words 'millat Ibraheem' is a strong reminder to keep all our worship for
GOD ALONE
[al-An`am 6:161] Say, "My Lord has guided me in a straight path - the perfect
religion of Abraham, monotheism. He never was an idol worshiper."
[al-An`am 6:162] Say, "My Contact Prayers (Salat), my worship practices,
my life and my death, are all devoted absolutely to GOD alone, the Lord of
the universe.
[al-An`am 6:163] "He has no partner. This is what I am commanded to believe,
and I am the first to submit."
<<Are we accountable to what was decreed for
Abraham? See 2:134 and 2:141The message of these two verses is once again
loud and clear. We are not answerable to anything done by those before us,
they had their rules and rites and we have ours. >>
Of course we are not responsible for what they do, especially their wrong
doings. The verse says they are responsible for what they did, but you changed
it. There is a difference between do not do the same religious practices
like them and you are not responsible for what they did. The verse says we
are not responsible for what they did, it does NOT say you are not to do
what they did in their religious practices. These previous generations did
salat, zakat, fasting and hajj but if they corrupted them from what Ibrahim
taught them, then we are not responsible for their wrong doing and we have
our Quran to point to us what went wrong. You are not responsible for what
your father did but you may learn how to do salat from him. Quran would correct
any corruptions that found its way into these practices. That is how Quran
confirms and supersedes.
If Abraham or Muhammed showed them the right way to pray and they corrupted
it , then they will be responsible for what they are doing and we are not
responsible for what they did including any corruptions. Still we need to
follow the correct rituals. We have the Quran to confirm these correct way
of doing these practices. God even sent us the messenger of the covenant
to confirm these corrections for us supported by the mathematical miracle
of the Quran.
Quran ALONE teaches us that with every prophet, some changes were made in
the rituals and laws. The Jews were given the Sabbath, they were given
prohibitions of certain food. Jesus was sent to correct the corruptions the
Jews did including all the man-made laws made for them by the rabbis...etc.
Muhammed was sent with the Quran and in it corrections to the laws distorted
over time by the Jews and the Christians. Big example is the trinity in
Christianity and claiming that Jesus is son of God.
We are not responsible for laws given specifically to the Jews or Christians
and changed in the Quran nor responsible for their corruptions. To them is
what they earned and to us is ours.
Previous generations were not allowed to have sex the night of fasting, we
do. We are ordered to do our salat in a moderate tone, they were not, or
they distorted it. Quran says the laws given in the Quran supersedes the
laws given in previous scriptures therefore we would be responsible for laws
adjusted in the Quran and NOT responsible to follow the laws canceled by
the Quran. This is the meaning of each Umma (nation or community) is responsible
for what they got.
Quran would not contradict itself. We are to follow Milat Ibrahim as it carries
all the practices of THE Salat, Zakat, Hajj and Fasting and we are to apply
the laws adjusted in the Quran and not to apply laws applied to the Jews
if the Quran came with a new law. That is what supersede means.
If Quran came with a totally new religion and rituals it would not need to
supersede any other books. It will be standing by itself. God insists that
the Quran confirms and supersedes all the other books because it is a
continuation of the same religion and practice. Quran is the Final chapter
in Islam not its beginning. Everything have been given already to Abraham
and Quran modified things that need to be modified for our Umma (community.)
About FASTING God says, FASTING was decreed for you-
AS -it was decreed for those before you. Then God
adjusts the law of fasting in the Quran. You cannot claim that fasting is
not the same like the people before us or you would be contradicting the
Quran. That is what you are claiming to be. Fasting is the same according
to the Quran with the adjustment given in the Quran. Since Quran supersedes
other books we have to apply the new adjustment in the Quran to fasting.
Hajj was called for, ONLY, by Ibrahim in the Quran, never by Muhammed. Is
it a different Hajj.? It is not. The words salat, Zakat, Hajj and fasting
are the same words used for Ibrahim, the Jews, Jesus, Yahia and Muhammed...etc.
God never used different words for any kind of rituals for each Umma.
They are the same rituals with some modifications adjusted for the needs
of every Umma. Each Umma is to follow what has been adjusted in their books
and not to follow the old ones that have been canceled . We still see some
of the Orthodox Jews and Christians pray in the same manner like Muslims
do, bowing and falling prostrate in their salat. It is obvious it is the
same salat not a different one as you claim.
Quran supersedes all the books = all the adjustments and changes made in
the Quran should be upheld above all the laws of previous communities. It
does not cancel all the rituals given to Ibrahim (and ONLY Ibrahim) in the
Quran.
Remember also that nothing is wrong in following the parents if they are
righteous. see 12:38. Quran prohibited us from following the parents if they
were idol-worshipers. Joseph again is reminding us that Ibrahim, not Noah,
is the one to follow, and follow his Milat (Tariqat=way of practice)
**Remember; Quran is complete and has everything by what is already in it,
including reminding us to follow Milat (tariqat ) Ibrahim.
**Yes Quran has everything and therefore told us we will be inheriting our
rituals from Ibrahim including the Zakat 2.5%...etc and was confirmed by
the messenger of God who corrected to us all the other corruptions.
** Messengers of God do not lie when they preach the religion. Others do.
The messenger I trusted when he corrected my salat, zakat, fasting and hajj
for me should be trusted in the rest of his corrections specially his corrections
do NOT contradict the Quran. There is not ONE example in the Quran
of regular people correcting the messengers of God after they
died or even of new messengers correcting the old messengers.
**If God told us follow Milat Ibrahim, then I trust HIM. HE will keep it
for all the generations to come. God would not order us to follow what we
will not or cannot find intact. God gave us the corrections we needed in
the Quran and/or emphasized the practices He knows we need to know it again.
He is the ONLY One who knows the reasons for that.
God repeated for us in the Quran whatever He sees important for us to know
again. God, for example, never told us what are the sacred months? What
is Umrah? what is Arafat? What is Safa or Marwa? What is the congregational
prayer on Friday?. What is Friday?
.etc. He knows we will know all
that from the previous generations. This does not make Quran incomplete except
in the minds of people who refused to believe the Quran or God when they
were told to follow the Milat of Ibrahim but tried hard to find another
explanation for it.
**That is where you need to know that God does what is necessary. If He saw
that these rituals are corrupted or will be corrupted in the future or NEED
to be modified, then HE KNOWS what is needed. He is not waiting for you to
tell Him what to do. All this does not change the fact that we are to follow
Milat, Tariqat, Ibrahim who was the ONLY prophet to receive the rituals of
Islam.
<<FIRST The Quran confirms that Islam is older
than the Quran:>>
Congratulation that you know that.
<<According to 21:73 we are told that the rituals
of Islam are older than the Quran and that they were indeed first given to
Abraham. However, the words in the verse do NOT say that what we have inherited
today, or what was practised at the time of Muhammad, is the pure rituals
as given to Abraham without being corrupted.>>
God already said to follow Milat (tariqat Ibrahim). He does not have to say
what you personally want. You need to trust that GOD knows exactly what He
is ordering us to do. HE is not going to order us to follow a corrupted practice.
He knows the correct practices will be available or at least corrected by
the Quran as needed.
<<SECOND To analyse the truth of whether we
are accountable to what was decreed for Abraham and those before us it is
necessary to read the following verse: .... 5:48 Here we note 3 very important
messages: 1- "We revealed to you this scripture, truthfully, confirming previous
scriptures, and superseding them. You shall rule among them in accordance
with God's revelations".
These words confirm that we are commanded to follow
what was revealed to us (Quran) and NOTHING else
.. In this verse the
Quran is given the function of "confirming previous scriptures, and superseding
them"
. This asserts the fact that what was given to those before
us has now been replaced by the Quran.>>
If everything else given to the previous generations is not of importance
to us, then Quran would not have to CONFIRM it. Satan made you see only
"SUPERSEDE" and blinded you from seeing "CONFIRM". If everything else was
canceled, then God does not even need to say Quran confirms. What does the
Quran confirms ???? Quran confirms that Islam is older than the Quran, that
Ibrahim was given the rituals of Islam and we are ordered to follow that
"Milat" that means the way God taught him how to perform all these rituals.
Superseding because some laws have been adjusted in the Quran for our generation
e.g. sex and fasting, Ablution, Wudu
etc. And remember, God sees the
future and since the Quran is the FINAL book from Him, it has to correct
any corruption that happened or will happen in the future including the time
after you are dead and until the end of the world.
<<We are thus accountable only to what is revealed
to us (Quran)
. And not what was given to Abraham or the
others.>>
False. This is the WRONG understanding of the QURAN. We are accountable ONLY
to the Quran that teaches us to follow Milat (the way of religous practice)
of Ibrahim.
<<To insist that we are following rituals that
we inherited from as far back as Abraham is in violation of the words
"superseding them" that describe the Quran in 5:48 >>
False. If you claim to follow the Quran ALONE, then you need to follow Milat
Ibrahim who was the ONLY one who received the "Tariqat" (method) of performing
our rituals. You can see "superseding" but Satan make you blind for "CONFIRMING".
<<2- The words "For each of you, we have decreed
laws and different rites." tell us that the rituals given to each people
(including us) are different from those before them.>>
False. There is ONLY ONE religion and ONE time mention of the rituals
of Islam given to anybody. All the prophets performed
AL-Salat and paid
AL-ZAKAT. To use
-AL - for salat and zakat for every prophet
is a clear referral to the ONE and ONLY rituals given to the ONE prophet
Ibrahim. Is it a co-incidence that all the prophets are described as doing
the same rituals , AL- salat,
AL- zakat,
AL- fasting and
AL- hajj, when you are promoting your
own idea saying every generation have different rituals and "Manasik." Changes
were made for every generation as part of their test and their books superseded
what was revealed before them. This did not cancel what was given before,
it ONLY modified it while CONFIRMING the rest.
<<As a result, and although we all follow the
same creed of Monotheism and submission to God (Islam), yet the specific
rituals and practices are different for different people.>>
Fasle statement by you made as a result of misguidance in understanding the
verses of the Quran.
<<3- Moreover, the words "He thus puts you to
the test through the revelations He has given each of you." tell us a truly
important matter. Here we are told that even though some (or all) of the
rituals may have been passed down to us from those who came before us, yet
God will test us and hold us accountable by means of the revelation He revealed
to us (Quran) and NOT what was given to those before us. According to these
words in 5:48, we shall be tested by the laws, regulations and rites that
were given to us in the Quran, and NOT what we inherited from those before
us.>>
Fasle. We were given certain laws in the Quran that applies now, like sex
and fasting, and these supersede previous laws given to other generations.
Quran confirms otherwise that all the rituals given to Ibrahim are the RITUALS
to follow as the order is very clear in the Quran to follow Milat (Tariqat)
(way of practice of religion by ) Ibrahim. According to these words in 5:48,
we will be tested by the laws, regulations and rites that were given to us
in the Quran, that modified the laws given to previous generations. We are
however responsible for following what is passed down to us from Milat Ibrahim
as God ordered us in the Quran and confirmed by the messenger of the covenant.
<<THIRD Not only did God inform us that each
people were given a different set of 'Shira'a wa minhaja' (laws), but also
that every people were given different RITUALS: see 22:67 (also 22:34). ......
We are told that these are not the same for different people. Consequently
to claim that we are to follow the exact rituals that were given to Abraham
is in violation with 22:67.>>
Quran teaches, for example, that fasting was decreed
for us AS it was decreed for those
before us. This contradicts your understanding right away. The correct
understanding if you follow the "WHOLE" Quran alone, is that all rites and
practices have always been the same with some changes done for every generation
or community. Therefore every community have to abide by what is corrected
for them. For example in our fasting we are allowed to have sex the night
of fasting, we cannot follow the laws of the Jews. If the rituals were different
as you claim, SHOW US from the Quran the other rituals given to the previous
generations, the Jews and Christians for example.
<<Now let us take a closer a look at verses 67
to 72 of Sura 22: "For each 'ummah' (nation), we have decreed 'Mansakan'
(set of rituals/rites) that they must uphold. Therefore, they should not
dispute with you. You shall continue to invite everyone to your Lord. Most
assuredly, you are on the right path. If they argue with you, then say, "God
is fully aware of everything you do." God will judge among you on the Day
of Resurrection regarding all your disputes...>>
If the Jews or Christians argue that we (who received the Quran) are having
sex the night of fasting, we know they have no right to dispute with us and
the righteous among them will know the same.
<<Yet, they idolize beside God idols wherein
He placed no power, and they know nothing about them. The transgressors have
no helper.>>
If the people follow your distorted views resulting from your
misunderstanding of the Quran, they are idolizing you .
<<....When our revelations are recited to them,
clearly, you recognize wickedness on the faces of those who disbelieve. They
almost attack those who recite our revelations to them. Say, "Shall I inform
you of something much worse? Hell is promised by God for those who disbelieve;
what a miserable destiny." 1- As mentioned the word 'Mansakan' speaks of
rituals and how they are not the same for every people.>>
You are saying the opposite to the Quran as explained before. God said Fasting
is the same with the exception of the modification made in the Quran.
********AL******** Salat, Fasting, Hajj,
Zakat has been the same. There are NO NAMES for other rituals given to other
people as you claim.
<<2- The words "If they argue with you, then
say, "God is fully aware of everything you do" are indeed very significant.
The question is 'why would the disbelievers argue with the believers in this
context?' ..... the reply is that they will argue with them because the believers
choose to follow the rites given in the Quran and NOTHING else? >>
You are following your own opinion and call it "Quran alone" and refusing
to follow the Quran alone that teaches what is opposite to your understanding.
<<... the believers are NOT interested in rites
that are inherited to them and labelled (came from Abraham)! ......>>
Not true. the believers do according to the Quran.
<<the believers believe God>>
and when God tells them I send my messengers to guide people from darkness
into the light they believe Him. They believe God when he tells them to follow
the messengers. They believe God when He tells them to follow Tariqat (the
way of practice) (Milat Ibrahim). They believe God when He says He chooses
His messengers to deliver the message not any person who has self interest
goals.
<<.... they are content that the Quran contains
ALL the religion they must follow.>>
They are content with the Quran ALONE not the Quran AND the the personal
opinion that has no guidance from the Quran. The same Quran teaches them
where to find the rites in Milat Ibrahim.
<<3- These words are then followed by yet equally
potent words, these are: "Yet, they idolize beside God idols wherein He placed
no power, and they know nothing about them. The transgressors have no
helper..">>
These idols are the people who always corrupted the message of God after
the messenger died.
<< FOURTH If we take a look at the verses leading
to 5:48 we note that God holds each receivers of a Scripture accountable
only to what they were given in their Scripture, and not to what was given
to those before them:>>
We are responsible for every correction made by the Quran and we are not
responsible to follow the laws of the Jews for example or their rites that
have been corrected in the Quran we however are responsible to follow Milat
(Tariqat) Ibrahim.
<<FIFTH Furthermore, the Quran gives us the the
message of our accountability to the Quran on Judgement in very clear words
in the following verse: "This (Quran) is a message for you and your people
which you shall all be accountable to" 43:44>>
Of course, and we will be asked whey did not we follow the Milat of Ibrahim
instead of people's Hadiths for example.
<< SIXTH "Such is a community from the past.
They are responsible for what they earned, and you are responsible for what
you earned. You are not answerable for anything they have done." 2:134
"That was a community from the past. They are responsible
for what they earned, and you are responsible for what you earned. You are
not answerable for anything they did." 2:141 The message of these two verses
is once again loud and clear. We are not answerable to anything done by those
before us, they had their rules and rites and we have ours. >>
"..You are not answerable for anything they did." does not mean what you
are trying to make out of it . These words do not mean we are not responsible
for what rites they were given to them. They simply mean we are not responsible
for their action if they decided to leave God's commandments in the rites
and follow rites made for them by corrupted people. We are not responsible
for what they did if they killed the prophets or made their own corrupt religious
laws like you are doing...etc
<<SIXTH: The Quran also states a very important
matter in the following verse: 5:101 God confirms to us here that there are
some matters that He has deliberately overlooked, and thus they are not required
by us>>
God DID NOT overlook telling us to follow the Milat of Ibrahim. You are
overlooking what you do not like, even if the messenger of God confirmed
them. And even inventing new laws and attribute them to God.
<< God also tells us that if we inquire of them
IN THE LIGHT OF THE QURAN, that they will be obvious to us.
>>
If you do that you will see that we are to follow the Milat (Tariqat) Ibrahim.
<<This as well as God's assurance that NOTHING
HAS BEEN LEFT OUT OF THE BOOK (6:38), compels us to accept only the details
of the rituals that are given in the Quran.>>
Quran is complete by telling us WHO got the rituals and for us to follow
him (Ibrahim). God ordered us in the Quran alone to follow the tariqat (way
of practice) of Ibrahim and was confirmed by His messenger of the covenant,
supported by the strong mathematical miracle of the Quran..
<<If they are not in the Quran, it is either
because God has overlooked them, or because they are a corruption that was
never authorised by God.>>
That Quran orders us to follow Milat Ibrahim. Whatever was corrupted or going
to be corrupted in the future is confirmed and corrected in the Quran. Whatever
is intact since Ibrahim and was not corrupted was not mentioned in detail.
God clearly told Muhammed and us that He gave the Quran to judge among us
in what has been disputed.
<< Were the religious practices given to Abraham
preserved, and practiced at the time of Muhammad? Are they preserved until
today?>>
You only need to trust God. If God ordered us and Muhammed to follow Milat
Ibrahim He will give us the correct Milat with any corrections needed in
the Quran. God teaches us that among the Jews and Christians are righteous
believers. They would not be righteous if they were doing practices that
is against God's teachings to Abraham. God also teaches us that most of the
Jews reversed to idol-worship except few. From the few of each generation
God passed His Milat Ibrahim to the believers of every religion after Ibrahim.
<< As mentioned before, and since God is deliberate
to always follow the words 'millat Ibraheem' with the words Monotheism and
not idol worship, it is more sensible to accept that 'millat Ibraheem' simply
means Monotheism as opposed to idolatry. >>
There is nothing sensible here. Your definition is against the simple Arabic
language of the Quran and the definition of Milat in the Arabic language.
Milat is the practical ways of practicing a religion. While the ONLY religion
acceptable to God is Submission, "Islam", we are ordered to follow the Milat
(Tariqat) Ibrahim not Noah who had the same religion like us.
<<... In all the Quran, there is never a mention
of ANY group of believers at the time of Muhammad who followed the pure practices
as given to Abraham. To claim that the practices given to Abraham were practiced
in their purity at the time of Muhammad is thus an unfounded claim that has
no Quranic support whatsoever.>>
TOTALLY wrong. Quran teaches that FEW believers of every religion existed
all the time, God specially mentions Jews and Christians and about the Jews
God teaches what Joseph and Jacob (Grandparents of the Jews) did, FOLLOWED
Milat IBRAHIM.
[al-Baqarah 2:83] We made a covenant with the Children of Israel: "You shall
not worship except GOD. You shall honor your parents and regard the relatives,
the orphans, and the poor. You shall treat the people amicably. You shall
observe the Contact Prayers (Salat) and give the obligatory charity (Zakat).
But you turned away, except a few of you, and you became averse." Notice the Al-Salat and Al-Zakat
[bani Isra'il 17:62] He (Satan) said, "Since You have honored him over me,
if You respite me till the Day of Resurrection, I will possess all his
descendants, except a few." As you can see God is telling us
that there will always be some guided people from the time of Adam, not just
Ibrahim
<< We are told in the Quran repeatedly, how the
people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) have corrupted the scripture
given to them (see 4:46, 3:78, 2:75, 5:41). In that light it is hard to see
how they could have had a preserved scripture to represent the pure practices
and laws that God decreed.>>
Read the Quran to correct your views. See the answer of the previous point.
[an-Nisa' 4:155] (They incurred condemnation) for violating their covenant,
rejecting GOD's revelations, killing the prophets unjustly, and for saying,
"Our minds are made up!" In fact, GOD is the One who sealed their minds,
due to their disbelief, and this is why they fail to believe,
except a FEW.
After all, in every generation, the TRUE believers in GOD alone are FEW.
<<We are also told that the rituals, and specifically
the prayer, were lost by generations that followed one another
. The
claim that the rituals were preserved and passed down generation to generation
contradicts the Quranic evidence:19:59>>
Read the Quran to correct your views. See the answer of the previous point.
[3:113] They are not all the same; among the followers of the scripture,
there are those who are righteous. They recite GOD's revelations through
the night, and they fall prostrate.
[3:114] They believe in GOD and the
Last Day, they advocate righteousness and forbid evil, and they hasten to
do righteous works. These are the righteous.
[3:115] Any good they do will
not go unrewarded. GOD is fully aware of the righteous.
[3:199] Surely, some
followers of the previous scriptures do believe in GOD, and in what was revealed
to you,and in what was revealed to them. They reverence GOD, and they never
trade away GOD's revelations for a cheap price. These will receive their
recompense from their Lord. GOD is the most efficient in reckoning.
<< They say that the Quran does not detail
everything, but only what has been changed or corrupted.>>
Quran details everything. In that everything, Quran teaches us that it corrects
the things that the people of the scripture disputed in the past.
<< Nowhere in the Quran do we read ANY indication
that the Quran only deals with the changes and corruption.>>
NOT TRUE.
[16:64] We have revealed this scripture to you, to point out for them
what they dispute, and to provide guidance and mercy for people
who believe.
<< As a matter of fact the words 'fully detailed'
in 6:114, the words 'nothing has been left out of the book' in 6:38 and the
words that describes the Quran as giving 'explanation to EVERYTHING' in 16:89
all indicate that the Quran contains a complete and comprehensive law, and
not just the changes.>>
Part of being complete is the fact that it points to what has been wrong.
Quran details for us that Islam is older than the Quran and ask us to follow
the Milat Ibrahim. That is a complete guide.
<< If the Quran only deals with the changes as
they claim, then God's command in 6:114 to accept no laws from outside the
Quran would necessarily mean that the religion we are following is incomplete,
since it would be no more than a collection of amendments and
corrections!>>
NOT TRUE. It is your own imagination and wrong understanding. It is the Quran
that directs us to find the rituals of Islam (submission) in Milat (way of
practice) of Ibrahim. Following such an order is the true acceptance of the
Quran and proves the Quran to be complete as far as the law is concerned.
<<When God says EVERYTHING He means EVERYTHING
.. The word EVERYTHING indicates that the Quran contains all what we
need for salvation, and not just the changes.>>
It has everything including the changes, the origin of our rites and where
to find them and the new laws set for our Umma, (nation).
[3:73] "And do not believe except as those who follow your religion." Say,
"The true guidance is GOD's guidance." If they claim that they have the same
guidance, or argue with you about your Lord, say, "All grace is in GOD's
hand; He bestows it upon whomever He wills." GOD is Bounteous, Omniscient.
<<.... no one will dispute this fact. However,
there is a massive difference between God telling us that Islam is as old
as Abraham, and between God telling us to accept what we inherited of rituals
as a second source of law besides the Quran!>>
It is the law of the Quran to follow Milat (Tariqat Ibrahim). This is not
a second source since the Quran is asking us to do just that. Second source
would be laws set by people like you not the ones we are ordered to follow
in the Quran and passed down by Ibrahim.
<< ...If we are to follow the rituals that we
have inherited, how do we know which is genuine and which is a corruption?
>>
That is why God sends scriptures and messengers. He never told the people
to follow other people who corrupt the religion after the guidance were given
to them.
<< The only answer would obviously be to follow
what is supported by Quranic evidence
. Is there any other criteria?
>>
The Quranic evidence supports what the messenger of God has confirmed not
what you are making up.
<<Moreover, the glaring fact is that the personal
teachings of any messenger will also be corrupted and changed with the passing
of time.>>
It is the people who come after the messenger who do that, corrupt the teachings
of the messenger who showed all his proofs from the Quran. These personal
teachings were given during an era when everything can be well recorded as
an evidence against corruptions. All the teachings of the messenger were
from the Quran.
<<What should the believers in 100 years time
do? >>
You are not more merciful than God. You ask the same question that Pharaoh
asked Moses but in a different time. [Ta Ha 20:51] He said, "What about the
past generations?" [Ta Ha 20:52] He said, "The knowledge thereof is with
my Lord in a record. My Lord never errs, nor does He forget."
<<will the personal teachings of the messenger
be preserved then (15:9)? >>
His teachings are from the Quran and God will take care of it. Do not worry
about future generation. Worry about your own neck. Everything that happens,
happens because it is part of our test including any corruption that you
may convince someone with.
<< Are the personal teachings of the messenger
a scripture (42:21)? >>
It is not, but God chose to reveal the mathematical miracle of the Quran
and several news from the Quran through his teachings although they existed
in the Quran for 1400 years.
<< are messenger authorised to have his own personal
teachings (69:44)?>>
They do not, they teach what in the scripture. What they teach about the
religion (not their personal matters) is authorized by God or
they would be liars. There is not a mention of messengers who lie about
God in the Quran. You are preaching your own personal understanding and
claims it to be the right understanding of Quran.
<<..To claim that God has preserved our rituals
and passed them down from generation to generation since Abraham raises the
question of why then did God allow some of these practices to be
corrupted?>>
I showed you the proof in the Quran that there has always been righteous
believers in all generations. These are the ones who perform God's rituals
correctly and do not corrupt them as you do. God allows corruptions as much
as He allowed the Bible to be corrupted. His messenger of the covenant corrected
these corruptions that entered Islam after Muhammed's death using the Quran.
It is part of the test we are taking.
<<Should we rely on 'Universal
Acceptance'?>>
You do not rely on universal acceptance unless it does not contradict the
Quran. The number of Rakaat in salat and the percentage of Zakat and the
rest of the rituals do not contradict the Quran and is accepted as the same
rites passed down form generation to generation. These rites were confirmed
by the messenger who presented the strongest proof, the mathematical miracle
of the Quran.
<< "If you obey THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE ON EARTH,
they will divert you from the path of God. They follow only conjecture; they
only guess." 6:116>>
Because they contradict the Quran as you are doing but you think you are
correct. Quran talks about Arafat for example. There is a universal acceptance
that Arafat is the mountain on the outskirts of Mecca. Would this make it
the wrong mountain because the majority agree on that? Would it make it
the wrong Safa and Marwa that the majority agrees on what is Safa and Marwa?
Would it make it wrong that the majority name the 12 months of the Islamic
calendar the same names? Would it make it wrong that the majority of the
people agree on which day is Friday ?
<<If you are studying in school for a physics
exam, and your teacher gives you a book and tells you it contains everything
you need to pass the exam ..... you cannot one day tell him I did not find
in the book how to cook a pizza !!!>>
You do not.
<< Moreover, you cannot go and borrow a physics
book from the class of the year before you and follow it, since the questions
you will get in your exam will be based on the book the teacher gave you
and not the book given to them ........ you have your MINHAJ (rules) and
they have theirs (see minhaj in 5:48) .......>>
If the book the teacher gave the students tell them, "for the theory of liquids
behavior", read the book given to the previous class since my book is not
the beginning of science class but the one that completes it, then the teacher
gave them the minhaj and the way to know what they need to know to pass the
exam. You refused to believe the teacher when he told the students to check
about liquids in the books given to the previous class.
[at-Taubah 9:32] They want to put out GOD's light with their mouths, but
GOD insists upon perfecting His light, in spite of the disbelievers.
